Master or Ph.D. of Human Resource Education and Workforce Development

The Master or Ph.D. of Human Resource Education and Workforce Development (M.S.) program is offered by the School of Human Resource Education and Workforce Development under the College of AgricultureMost or all of the courses needed for a Master's degree and many of the courses required for a Ph.D. with a concentration in Agricultural and Extension Education, and Youth Development (AEEYD) are available via distance learning.  Courses are taught using a combination of compressed video and web-based instruction

Compressed video courses are available at the following LSU Agricultural Center locations:  Acadia Extension Office (Crowley), Calcasieu Extension Office (Lake Charles), Calhoun Research Station (Calhoun), Camp Grant Walker (Pollock), Dean Lee Research Station (Alexandria), Jefferson Extension Office (Metairie),  Red River Research Station (Bossier), Scott Research/Extension & Education Center (Winnsboro), Southeast Research Station (Franklinton), Terrebonne Extension Site (Houma), and West Carroll Extension Office (Oak Grove).

Master of Library and Information Sciences

The Master of Library and Information Sciences (M.L.I.S.) program is offered by the School of Library & Information Science.  In order to meet the diverse needs of students who work or live in other locations around the state, the School of Library and Information Science Distance Education Program offers three to five courses by interactive compressed video every semester. 

Currently, these courses are available at the Lafayette Public Library, LSU at Eunice, LSU at Shreveport, McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Rapides Parish Learning Center at England Industrial Airpark & Community in Alexandria, University of Louisiana at Monroe, and the University of New Orleans, and at either Nicholls State University in Thibodaux or the Terrebonne Parish Library in Houma.

Master of Social Work

The Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) program is offered by the School of Social Work.  The School of Social Work offers off-campus courses in a part-time format for students in outlying areas of the state. Students must meet specific admission requirements to enter the School of Social Work Distance Education Program

Courses are taught using a combination of compressed video, web-based instruction and limited on-site, face-to-face instruction.  Currently, the school offers courses at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and the Rapides Parish Learning Center at England Industrial Airpark & Community in Alexandria.

Certificate of Education Specialist  (Ed.S.), (Reading) 

The Certificate of Education Specialist  (Ed.S.) (Reading), program is offered by the College of Education under the Department of Educational Theory, Policy, & Practice (ETPP).  The program is delivered by on-site instruction in Shreveport, Louisiana by Dr. Earl Cheek.  

The Certificate of Education Specialist  (Ed.S.) intended primarily for teachers, counselors, supervisors, and administrators in elementary and secondary schools.  This program provides in-depth opportunities for further professional growth and specialization for persons who have completed a masters degree.  A minimum of 60 hours of graduate credit - which may include the masters degree-is required.

Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service Specialization

The Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service Specialization (LCES Specialization) is offered by the LSU Agricultural Center.  The program offers a special postgraduate program of study to its Cooperative Extension Agents throughout the state.  

 

The program is based upon courses offered by the College of Agriculture under the Schools of  

Human Resource Education & Workforce Development, Human Ecology, Horticulture, and Agriculture Economics and Agribusiness.  Courses  are taught using a combination of compressed video and web-based instruction. 

Courses are available depending upon the course and semester at the following LSU Agricultural Center locations:  Acadia Extension Office (Crowley), Camp Grant Walker (Pollock), Calcasieu Extension Office (Lake Charles), Calhoun Research Station (Calhoun), Dean Lee Research Station (Alexandria),  Terrebonne Extension Site (Houma), Jefferson Extension Office (Metairie), Rosepine Research Station (Rosepine), Red River Research Station (Bossier), Rice Research Station (Rayne),  St. Tammany Extension Office (Mandeville), West Carroll Extension Office (Oak Grove), and Northeast Research Station (Winnsboro).

The Graduate Institute at Waterways Experiment Station

The Graduate Institute at Waterways Experiment Station (WES) in Vicksburg, Mississippi is headquarters for the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC)

Along with Mississippi State University and Texas A&M University, LSU currently offers web-based instruction courses to Corps of Engineers employees.
