The primary function of the office of Extended
Learning is to extend the reach of Louisiana State University, in order
to fulfill educational needs across the state of Louisiana and beyond, where
otherwise there would be no access to these programs.
Extended
Learning offers term-based courses and degree programs using compressed
video, internet delivery, and traditional on-site instruction.
Our office primarily handles courses offered via compressed video, which are
transmitted to various
receiving sites around the state of Louisiana. Compressed video courses are
taught here in Baton Rouge in specially equipped classrooms and are transmitted
to similarly equipped classrooms across the state. The transmission is fully interactive, in
that students at the distance sites can see, hear, and communicate with their
instructor and classmates here in Baton Rouge and at all other distance locations.
If you
are interested in college credit correspondence courses,
LSU Independent & Distance Learning may be the
program you are looking for.
